YouTube has a new strategy by launching new partner program to cope up with the change. Company has decided to cut 55 % of revenue and keeping rest 45% for Youtube Shorts creators, starting from February 1st.
Youtube’s much awaited Program:
The platform launched a partnership program keeping up with the terms and policies that creators have to follow and comply with until 10th of July. Company has launched “Monetization Modules” that will allow producers to get more flexibility over their income. YouTube suggests allowing all modules to open full opportunity for creators to earn at their maximum. This change is going to be the biggest update to youtube’s partner program that will need everyone who is member of it to agree with new agreement terms. Regardless, they are willing to earn from shorts or not. Musical tracks creators option will pin down the amount of earnings in their sorts. If there would be a track without music, all income will go to the creator pool.
Company will decide ow to distribute the creator pool according to the number of total shorts views. Creators will be able utilize some former YouTube monetization components such as super chats or shopping integrations to earn money with their shorts. Tiktok like small creator fund is also an option.
Eligibility for the Youtube partner program:
Youtube had already announced in detail that creators having at least 1000 followers and over 10 million views on youtube shorts in tree months period, will only be allowed to participate in the program.
With youtube Shorts income division, the $100 million creator fund has to get away but youtube is predicting more funds to be added than what it acquired through its fund.
Youtube users will have ads while streaming shorts on the feed, however the income gained through the ads will be utilized for music licensing firms and creators through a joint pool, by the end of every month
Youtube Creators Need To Accept Three Monetization Modules:
The YouTube is set to offer three modules, all of that has various income streams. To access monetization, YouTube basic terms have to be accepted by channel owners, but the new partner program is flexible for them.
Watch Page Monetization Module:
The watch page monetization module has the real alikeness to the earliest version of the partner program that was released initially in 2007. Users who will use this module will be having the benefit to run advertisements on long form and live streaming topics.
Youtube Shorts Monetization Module:
This module will be effective on 1 February. Most of the creators who will apply for the module will be able to access it, thanks to the new entry rules for the partner program. Channels having at least 1000 subscribers and 10 million shorts viewers over three months will be eligible to run ads. However, Long form channels can still access the program if they are successful in acquiring 1000 subscribers and 4000 real watch time in a year.
Commerce Product Addendum:
Commerce Product Addendum will include the options like super chat and super thanks. However, policies and terms are same for this module so creators don’t have to agree them again. If you are already accessing these features, you can keep doing it without any restriction.
Company suggests that creators need to acquire all the modules to earn at their full capacity on the platform. Creators who create shorts and have agreed to the updated monetization module will be able to gain shorts ads income according to their shorts views, starting soon.
As for now, it is bit confusing to explain how shorts income will be divided due to the music licensing. Income from the ads showing between shorts will be compiled together and utilized to profit monetizing shorts producers and bear the pricing of music licensing. A chunk of total income, will be shared to the producer pool as per the views and music used according to all watch time of shorts. It is up to the creator, if he does not use the music all the revenue generated, will be added in creator pool, every month If the music will be used by the creator for shorts, income will be divided among creator pool and music creators according to the number of tracks utilized.
Youtube Creator pool allocation to creators:
Moreover, the creator pool is assigned to the creators. Company further announced that it will share income to monetizing shorts producers according to their part of total shorts views in the creator pool. For example, if a creator got 10 % applied views out of all shorts updated by monetizing producers, they will be eligible to get 10 % of the total income in the creator pool.
It is an extremely noticeable fact that non authentic shorts will not be allowed for income sharing. Unauthentic shorts are those which contains raw clips from films or Tv series, re shared content from other producers on YouTube or any other platform, or data with un authentic content. Shorts having fake views, likewise from bots or automated clicks, are not allowed for revenue division.
YouTube will be TikTok’s biggest rival:
According to these updates, YouTube will be the TikTok’s biggest rival. If creators are getting opportunity to make more income through YouTube shorts, they will be more interested to create authentic content for YouTube. There is no platform yet, that sort out how to divide ad income, which will give the tough competition to tiktok and other alike platforms.
Top 50 carts, revealed that channels are eligible to gain billions of shorts views by accumulating and re sharing videos from around the social media. YouTube will not allow non original content for monetization and its management team will make sure to sort out the original and remixed material. To form that distinguishing line, YouTube may be compelled to plod into the murky waters of fair use to keep the originality of the content.
